• GURUDWARA SHRI GURU MAHAL is situated in the Amritsar City District Amritsar, Punjab. Its near to the GURUDWARA SHRI HARIMANDIR SAHIB. This gurudwara comprises a large rectangular hall, in which Guru Granth Sahib is placed. It was constructed as a modest hut by Guru Ram Das in 1573. The main festival celebrated in this gurudwara is the birth anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji who was born here on Baisakh.
SHRI GURU RAMDAS JI and his family was staying here. SHRI GURU RAMDAS JI founded the city of RAMDASPUR (Modern day AMRITSAR) and began excavation of 'POOL OF NECTAR'. SHRI GURU ARJAN DEV JI got married here and was also blessed as GURU here. SHRI GURU HARGOBIND SAHIB JI was also married here. This place is also birth place of BABA ATAL RAI JI and SHRI GURU TEG BAHADUR JI.
Gurudwara Guru Ka Mahal, as the name signifies, marks the residential house of the Gurus. It is situated west of the Akal Takht across Guru ka Bazar street. Originally constructed as a modest hut by Guru Ram Das in 1573, it was enlarged and beautified by Guru Arjan Dev and Guru Hargobind. The old house has since been converted into a Gurudwara with the Guru Granth Sahib seated in a large rectangular hall. Besides the daily services, a special divan and Guru ka Langar are held on every Sunday following the first of a Bikrami month.
