• Gurudwara is named as bala sahib as the bala guru (the child guru) guru harkishan ji cremated there. This Gurudwara is also associated with two wives of Guru Gobind Singh namely Mata Sundri ji and Mata Sahib Kaur ji.
• Gurudwara Bala Sahib is one of the most important Sikh shrines in Delhi, next in importance to Gurudwara Sis Ganj and Gurudwara Bangla Sahib. Large number of Sikhs and Hindus visit this holy place daily.
• During his stay in Delhi, Guru Harkrishan Sahib won the hearts of a large number of admirers by applying healing touch on ailing bodies. He cured hundreds of people, suffering from acute attack of cholera and smallpox. For Sikhs of Delhi, his very presence amidst them, had a very healthy impact. For them the Guru was the boat of salvation, a ladder to reach one's ultimate home, a key to open the lock,a unifier of man with God and so on. In fact for Sikhs a Guru is indispensable, yet he is not an end in himself, but only a means for the attainment of salvation.
• GURUDWARA SHRI BALA SAHIB is situated in outer ring road in DELHI. GURUDWARA SAHIB is situated on the Bank of River Yamuna. SHRI GURU HARKRISHAN JI got sick serving the people of delhi suffred with Small pox.
Guru Harkishan ji
GURU SAHIB asked sikhs to take him to the some far away location from City. Sikhs pitched a large tent on the Bank of River yamuna here. GURU SAHIB directed sikhs that hes going to leave for SACHKHAND. He asked for 5 paise and a coconut. Devotees asked GURU SAHIB about his sucessor, GURU SAHIB uttred only "BABA BAKALE" and left for Heavenly Aboard. GURU SAHIBS last rites were performed here and ASTH(Ashes) were taken to Kiratpur Sahib. At this place last rites of MATA SUNDER KAUR JI & MATA SAHIB KAUR JI were also permformed.
